America an Immigration Nation 2017

America, an Immigration Nation is a documentary that chronicles the history of immigration to this country dating back to1585 with the forced immigration of millions of slaves from Africa. This film describes in detail the "four great waves" of immigration that occurred through out American history, involving the migration of millions of arrivals from Europe, Scandinavia, the middle east and Asia, before certain restrictive immigration policies were put in place. Unlike other films on this topic, the film also shows the development of nativism, and nativist opposition often resulting in bigotry, discrimination, and sometimes death to arriving immigrant groups . This documentary also addresses our current unresolved immigration issues, while specifically focusing on illegal immigration, and border control concerns. America, an Immigration Nation forces us to reflect deeply on our thoughts, beliefs, opinions and attitudes about our current immigration situation in America today.
